'Swimming with Sharks' at Local Miami Gallery
New York, London, and Paris can go take a flying leap, or better yet, they can go “Swimming with Sharks.” That’s the name of a new sculpture exhibit by Miami’s own Ralph Provisero, and it’s proof positive that the world’s top art centers have got nothing on the Magic City.
Using his working knowledge of engineering and architecture, Provisero thinks big. His large-scale sculptures evoke thoughts of heavy machinery, both futuristic and archaic -- as if the Wright Brothers were creating schematics for the Starship Enterprise. This exhibit is on display at the Dorsch Gallery (151 NW 24th St., Miami) until September 1. Gallery hours are from 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. Call 305-576-1278, or visit http://www.dorschgallery.com/.
